Tillotson Casts Spell Over St. Petersburg, as Yankees Win

Thad Tillotson led the Fort Lauderdale Yankees to a shutout victory, 1-0, over the St. Petersburg Cardinals at Fort Lauderdale Stadium.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Tillotson recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

Tillotson yielded 3 hits and had 11 strikeouts and no walks in the standout performance.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," St. Petersburg manager <Jamie Ball:coach#507> said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
