Heise Wins PCL Player of the Week Prize
Phoenix fans have something to crow about today as Phoenix shortstop Bob Heise nabbed the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days.
"I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Heise.
He posted a .636 average (14-for-22) this past week with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs, and 4 runs scored.
So far this year, Heise is batting .378 with 3 home runs, 30 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
May's Premier Batter Announced
Bob Heise may be much younger than other hitters in the Pacific Coast League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award.
The 23-year-old Phoenix shortstop hit .465 with 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
This season, Heise has posted a batting average of .378 with 54 hits in 143 at-bats, 3 home runs and 30 RBIs. He has also scored 20 runs, walked 12 times and compiled a .423 OBP.
