Great Stroke: Velez Gets 5 Hits
The Kinston Eagles stopped the Lynchburg Twins by a score of 4-3 at Grainger Stadium, with the lion's share of the credit going to center fielder Otto Velez. The 19-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Velez said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Velez did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Twins.
"Not much that I can say," offered Lynchburg manager <David Yochum:coach#581>. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Otto Velez doubled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Velez on the season is hitting .244 with 1 home run. His stats include 11 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
